EA's Marvel's Black Panther. game, which was formally announced less than two years ago will therefore never see the light of day. The information came from an email sent by EA Entertainment president Laura Miele. Laura shared that this change alongside others was to put their focus where they thought there was the opportunity for the most growth. Beyond Cliffhanger Games, and other recent cancellations like with Respawn and an untitled Titanfall project, people have been laid off on its mobile, and central teams. While this is believed to be less than was laid off last month's 300 people, it is still a significant amount reports GeekWire. According to Laura, EA will be helping people find opportunities within EA. However, Laura states that the Iron Man game in work at Motive Studios will continue, as will the third Star Wars: Jedi game, and Bioware's work on the next Mass Effect game. This comes also after they announced the pausing of various racing games that had been in the works earlier this month. Cliffhanger debuted in 2023 under the leadership of former Monolith Productions studio head Kevin Stephens, after a two-year incubation period. Florence Pugh stars in Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts It had yet to divulge any real details about its Black Panther project. But earlier reports indicated that BP would've been an open-world action-adventure in the same spirit as Monolith's award-winning Shadow of Mordor. It's arguably best known to mainstream audiences for its Madden and FIFA sports games, but has also produced big hits like Battlefield, Dead Space, Mass Effect, and Apex Legends. Its recent layoffs have been attributed to a process of reorganization and refocus that was first announced in 2024 by CEO Andrew Wilson. He said he was: 'leading through an accelerated industry transformation.' Cliffhanger's closure is the latest in a series of shutdowns and layoffs that have plagued the international video game industry for over two years. In the Pacific Northwest, impacted companies include Phoenix Labs, Monolith Productions, Rec Room, and Wizards of the Coast's Project Sigil team. Fans on Reddit have posted about their disappointment and one said: "Wow. Created on 2023, closed in 2025 before releasing your first game. "Never become a game developer friends." Another added: "EA did the exact same thing with Ridgeline Games last year. Created in 2022 to create the next Battlefield campaign, closed in 2024 without releasing anything." "This is disappointing. Really hoping the Iron Man gets a release and is good. Hell at this rate, I'm hoping that the Wolverine gets released" said another user. One user commentated: "From the outside, EA is such a bizarre company to observe. It's almost like they have absolutely no idea what they want long term." "Another one bites the dust. The industry is in complete shambles at this point" exclaimed another fan. And another added: "What a disappointing shambles. Was really looking forward to this."

The authority confirmed that "samples were taken and cannabis was found in them." "We immediately contacted Haribo and they issued a safety warning," a spokesperson said. "How the cannabis ended up in the sweets is still unknown. The police are investigating this further." A Haribo spokesperson said: "The incident is contained to the Netherlands, to a specific product and batch. "Haribo products in the UK are not affected. "The safety of our consumers is our highest priority and Haribo takes this incident very seriously, which is why a recall has been issued in the Netherlands. "Haribo is working closely with the authorities to support their investigation and establish the facts around the contamination." The recall only applies to products with the production code L341-4002307906, it has been reported. The company added that other production codes for Happy Cola F!ZZ are safe to eat - as are all other Haribo products. People with items in the affected batch are requested to send them to the company, not to return it at a store. A refund will then be issued. It is unclear how large the contaminated batch was. A separate batch of Haribo was also recalled last year due to pieces of wood, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). This recall affected Tangfastics across several Canadian regions. More to follow... Full list of 10 Original Factory Shop stores shutting in DAYS as closing down sales launched

Find out the full list of stores closing and when CLOSING UP SHOP Full list of 10 Original Factory Shop stores shutting in DAYS as closing down sales launched Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A DISCOUNT high street chain is closing a total of 10 shops over the coming weeks - and huge closing down sales have been launched. The Sun has been reporting on a series of store closures by The Original Factory Shop (TOFS) and can now confirm there are even more sites shutting for good. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 The Original Factory Shop stores that are closing have launched clearance sales Credit: Facebook TOFS previously warned it would have to shut some "loss-making" locations after struggling in recent years. Eight closures were known of before but we can reveal a further two are shutting next month, taking the total to 10. The stores in Chester-le-Street in County Durham and in Perth, Scotland, are both shutting on June 28. Among the other locations closing for good are Shaftesbury, Staveley, Arbroath, Milford Haven and Peterhead. The Chester-le-Street store announced its closure in a Facebook post, saying the "rumours were true" and it was shutting "with great sadness". "It's been a pleasure bringing you all the great deals over the last 2 years, getting to know our regulars," it said. Commenters appeared devastated, with one person writing: "Absolutely gutted. I get loads of stuff in there. So sad about this." Another said: "I love this shop and the staff are amazing. So sorry for you all." Before it disappears from the high street, the store is holding a clearance sale with discounts of up to 30% off. It told shoppers to "come grab yourselves some bargains" but asked them to be "respectful" to the staff as they are "devastated" by the closure. Beloved department store chain shutting more locations with clearance sales on now until final May 25 deadline The Perth store also posted an announcement on Facebook, saying it hoped shoppers would "pop in to see us before we close". "We have loved serving you and being part of the community over the last 18 months," it said. The store is currently holding a 30% off closing down sale, with items including clothes, garden essentials and electricals all discounted. The Sun has reached out to TOFS for comment on the latest closure announcements. There are now 10 TOFS locations closing in the coming weeks. The full list of stores closing Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire - June 26 Perth - June 28 Chester Le Street, County Durham - June 28 Arbroath, Angus - June 28 Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire - June 28 Pershore, Worcestershire - June 28 Normanton, West Yorkshire - June 28 Peterhead, Aberdeenshire - June 28 Shaftesbury, Dorset - June 28 Staveley, Cumbria - July 12 The first to close is Milford Haven in Pembrokeshire on June 26. Eight shops are closing on June 28, while Staveley in Cumbria is shutting for good on July 12. The Nairn store is listed as up for sale, but TOFS has told The Sun that negotiations are ongoing with the landlord. Therefore it is unclear whether the shop will remain open. Meanwhile the Cupar store said in March it was negotiating with its landlord over an extended lease, meaning it could possibly be at risk. The Sun has put this to TOFS. What's been happening with The Original Factory Shop? Private equity firm Modella bought The Original Factory Shop back in February and has since launched a restructuring effort to renegotiate rents at 88 TOFS stores. Modella is known for picking up struggling retailers, having also recently acquired Hobbycraft and WHSmith's high street shops. It is set to rebrand all WHSmith high street stores to TGJones, and has brought in advisers to look at potential options for Hobbycraft. At the end of April, Modella drew up plans to initiate a company voluntary arrangement (CVA) for TOFS. Companies often use CVAs to prevent insolvency, which could otherwise result in store closures or the collapse of the entire business. They allow firms to explore different strategies such as negotiating reduced rent rates with landlords. TOFS previously told The Press and Journal that a "number of loss-making stores will have to close" as part of the restructuring. It said at the time: "Closing stores is always a tough decision and we are committed to keeping as many stores open as possible. "This is, however, dependent on successful negotiations with landlords as we strive to build a sustainable and successful business for the future." The Original Factory shop has already shuttered more than a dozen stores over the past 12 months. These are the locations that closed in 2024: Brightlingsea, Essex Bodmin, Cornwall Chepstow, Wales Fakenham, Norfolk Harwich, Essex Mildenhall, Suffolk Padiham, Lancashire Taunton, Somerset Deal, Kent Haverfordwest, Wales.

‘Perfectly healthy' girl, 4, left paralysed after family camping trip after giant critter feasted on her scalp

"She couldn't walk and she was crawling on the floor," the 31-year-old mum said. Five days later, Taylor noticed something was seriously wrong with her four-year-old daughter. Madeline was struggling to move and appeared dazed, unable to get herself off the ground. Taylor rushed her to hospital where medics began running a series of tests and scans but they couldn't figure out what was causing the paralysis. She was then transferred to a specialist children's hospital three hours away, where her condition seemed to be getting worse. 'The paralysis affected her whole body,' Taylor said. 'It started from the bottom and was working its way up. She couldn't sit up and wasn't even making eye contact.' Doctors monitored Madeline closely overnight. By the next morning, she had lost function in her hands. It was only when a neurologist asked about the family's outdoor activities that he decided to examine her scalp. They found a dime-sized female Rocky Mountain wood tick hidden in her hair, latched onto her skin and feeding. Justin Bieber discusses his battle with Lyme disease and how it has affected him It had been releasing a neurotoxin into Madeline's bloodstream, triggering a rare condition called tick paralysis. The tick was carefully removed, and within hours, Madeline's mobility began to return. 'She was able to walk again about four hours later,' Taylor said. 'It was such a relief.' Ticks can hide anywhere and the earlier you catch it, the bette Taylor Justice The youngster was also given antibiotics to lower the risk of Lyme disease, which ticks can carry and which can cause long-term complications if not treated early. Taylor, a salon owner, said she had never heard of tick paralysis before. 'It's frightening how something so small can do that kind of damage,' she said. 'I'll be so much more careful now.' 6 Madeline was struggling to move and appeared dazed, unable to get herself off the ground Credit: Kennedy News 6 The fateful family camping trip Credit: Kennedy News Madeline has started to recover but still wakes up with some stiffness in her legs in the mornings. Thankfully, she's regained full movement during the day and is back to her usual self. How to prevent tick bites - and remove the bugs There are a few things you can do to lessen your likelihood of tick bites. Firstly, try and cover as much of your skin as possible while walking outdoors and tuck your trousers into your socks. You should also be using insect repellent containing DEET on your clothes and skin, and wearing light coloured clothing so you can spot a tick easily. Also stick to paths where possible when you're out walking. How can I remove a tick safely? To remove a tick safely: Use fine-tipped tweezers or a tick-removal tool. You can buy these from some pharmacies, vets and pet shops. Grasp the tick as close to the skin as possible. Slowly pull upwards, taking care not to squeeze or crush the tick. Dispose of it when you have removed it. Clean the bite with antiseptic or soap and water. The chance of getting ill is low. You do not need to do anything else unless you notice a rash or become unwell. If either of these happen, make sure to see a GP so you can get treatment as soon a possible. Taylor says the experience has changed the way she thinks about outdoor safety. She now checks all her children thoroughly after time outside and keeps tick repellent in her bag at all times. 'Parents need to know about this,' she said. 'Check their heads, their hairlines, behind their ears, waistbands, even their socks. "Ticks can hide anywhere and the earlier you catch it, the better.'

Moment vile woman caught kicking dog and screaming abuse in its face on neighbour's doorbell camera

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) WATCH the shocking moment a woman swears and screams at her dog before kicking and dragging him by his lead. Vile Lauren Leigh Barker was caught on camera physically and verbally abusing her pooch, Rocco. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 6 She shouted at Rocco to get him into the room Credit: SWNS 6 She became more aggressive with the pooch throughout the footage Credit: SWNS 6 She was shown kicking the pup after forcing him into the door frame Credit: SWNS Barker repeatedly raises her voice and becomes increasingly aggressive with the distressed pup, shouting at him to move. She pushes him towards the door and he collides with the frame before she eventually muscles him in and shuts them both in. They disappear from view, but her shocking abuse continues behind the closed door and Rocco can be heard barking at his owner. In the footage, Barker, of Clevedon, North Somerset, bellows: "In there. Rocco don't wind me up. "Get in. Get the f*** in. I said move. Move, move. Stay." She can be seen kicking Rocco through to the next room and the doorbell camera visibly shakes as she slams the door. Barker, who owns another dog called Iddy, was banned from keeping animals for five years after the footage was shared with the RSPCA. This decision cannot be appealed for at least two years. After reviewing the footage, a vet said: "Rocco has been caused to suffer due to the person responsible for the welfare of this animal behaving in an aggressive, intimidating and physically abusive manner. "Suffering will have been experienced by this animal via mechanisms of fear, distress and possibly pain for a period of at least several minutes, possibly longer." 6 Barker was convicted of two counts of mistreating Rocco. Credit: BPM 6 She has been banned from keeping animals for five years. Credit: SWNS 6 The RSPCA opened an investigation after being shown the footage. Credit: SWNS Appearing at North Somerset Magistrates Court earlier this month, she was deemed to have caused unnecessary suffering to Rocco during an incident in September 2023. She was also found to have failed to meet her dogs' needs to be protected from pain and suffering due to the infliction of physical violence and abusive behaviour for an incident in October 2023. She was sentenced to 12 weeks custody, suspended for 18 months, and must complete 30 days of Rehabilitation Activity Requirement (RAR). Barker intends to appeal the conviction and continues to plead her innocence, arguing that she was acting in self-defence against "aggressive" Rocco. Whilst at a rescue centre, RSPCA teams carried out behaviour assessments on the pup and found he was suitable for rehoming. He was deemed to be very tolerant of vets, allowing them to perform a range of checks without needing to restrain him. RSPCA Inspector Kim Walters said: 'We're extremely grateful when people report animal welfare concerns to us and share any evidence they have that can help our investigations."
